The Increased Powers of Crystals,
when Formed into Skulls
For some reason unknown to us, the power of crystals seem to be magnified when formed to resemble a human skull. Perhaps it is just perceptional. Maybe the crystal's powers remain the same, and it is us that more readily 'connect' to those powers when viewing a familiar shape. It has been suggested that the skull shape is an emotional trigger for our subconscious mind. This emotional trigger works to channel and intensify our reception of the crystal's powers. 
This theory would seem to be the case when considered from a historic viewpoint. Our modern western culture predominantly associates human skulls with death and evil, but this was not always the case. Actually quiet the opposite was true for our ancestors. Many primitive societies looked on the skull
shape as an embodiment of the consciousness of the deceased. Skulls were cherished and honored. They represented the 'life' and essence of their forebears. Skulls served as communication tools to connect to the spirits of loved ones. Unlike today, where skulls are viewed as a symbol of dread and doom, in the past there was only reverence and joy associated with the presence of skulls. 
For thousands of years there have been rituals in civilizations around the globe, celebrating the lives of ancestors. Many such celebrations honoring the dead exist today. In Mexico, they still honor the departed and celebrate "The Day of the Dead", during which, images of skulls can be seen everywhere. Another example would be the Christian observation of "All Saints Day",
which honors the spirits of departed Saints, usually on November 1st. Skulls are predominate around Halloween, which was originally called "All Hallows Eve" - the night before "All Saints Day". Unfortunately today these skulls are more associated with 'witches, magic and demons' than was their original place of honor and reverence. 
We do know that the representation of the human skull carved in stone is a powerful image. It seems to resonate with our deepest human emotions. Perhaps it is a gateway to the inner soul or a connection to our past. In any event it is powerful meditation medium. When used for personal discovery, crystal skulls work to open the pathways of growth and enlightenment.It is thought that crystals, by their very nature, amplify energy. However a whole new set of dynamics are added when they are cut and shaped into the form of the human skull. No longer is the mineral in its original form, it has a completely new geometry. Now the crystal can transfer those energies through a human medium. The skull shape becomes the connection point between the natural energies of the crystal and the receptive mind of its caretaker.
